ERDF Grant Schemes Business Enhance
Intro
The Ministry for European Affairs and Equality commissioned Communiqué to create a brand name and to design a brand identity for as series of Grant Schemes which are part-financed by the EU’s European Regional Development Fund (for the period 2014-2020). These grant schemes are designed to support enterprises when under – taking investment projects aimed at securing sustainable business growth, and thereby becoming more competitive, innovative and more resilient to market challenges.

Logo Design
Given this background, one of the names we proposed for this scheme was ‘Business Enhance’. The name Business Enhance conveys a simple and direct message, which can be understood instantly. Other brand name options presented to the client, and which also made it to the final shortlist, included BIG, an acronym for Business Incentives and Growth, and BusinessPLUS. Following an evaluation of all options by the client the brand name Business Enhance was approved and the logo design process was initiated. The concept of the logo is based on the idea that these schemes are there to help an organisation to evolve and grow.
Brand Identity Guideline
As part of the branding process, a brand book and media tool-kit were designed to offer guidance to companies benefitting from the grant schemes, as to how the Business Enhance brand identity should be reflected in their collateral material (one of the conditions of participating in the scheme). This booklet covers the application of the brand identity across all collateral and media applications, with specific instructions as regards the use of the logo, appropriate typography, and colour schemes for stationery, publicity material, PowerPoint templates, signage, merchandise as well as digital marketing.
Icon Design
A full icon resource library was designed to be used on the Business Enhance website, together with animations for video and motion.
Publications
A full set of publications was produced to promote the various grant schemes available. The appropriate photography was used for each of these publications.
