Żigużajg 2018

In just a few years, the Żigużajg Festival has established itself as one of the most exciting events in Malta’s cultural calendar.

Żigużajg is not your average festival, but one with a mission: to introduce and familiarise the young to the wonderful world of the creative arts. And perhaps the clearest link – one which the festival plays on beautifully in its various events – is the vivid imagination that helps colour children’s lives.

The Concept

Our designers did their magic with the Żigużajg logo, transforming each individual letter into a whimsical performing artist, traveling on their rocket ship – what else? – to the festival’s home city, Valletta. An extensive advertising campaign on various media was organised, including – for the first time in the festival’s history, bus wraps emphasising that Żigużajg features performances which cater for all ages.

Our process

Art, after all, is imagination brought to life, and with this in mind, we thought, what better way to express what Żigużajg is all about than to bring its very own identity to life?  The visuals centred on bringing the logo to life and with this in mind the rest of the digital campaign followed suit. A marketing campaign encompassing various mediums was prepared after all the designs and visuals were confirmed by the client. We took care of all the festival’s marketing and PR needs, from overall strategy all the way down to the many little details.

Website Rebrand

The website underwent a complete redesign whilst all the performances were being listed and uploaded. Various tweaks were done to reflect the modern SEO practice to increase website traffic and visibility in order to sell the performances fast. Once the general maintenance was done on a daily basis the website had an immediate success and the shows sold out instantly.

Content of Festival

The festival’s content centred on the logo coming to life in the form of an artist going towards Valletta to perform. Twenty-seven performances were produced and this brand identity merged and transformed itself in actual shows. The booklet itself focused on the characters, which were featured in various pages and consistent all throughout the visuals of the festival.

T-Shirts and Hoodies

We transformed the concept to work across all the mediums including T-Shirts to bus wraps, including a revamped website and an informative “green room” within Spazju Kreattiv, all with the festival’s colourful visual identity at the centre.

PR

The PR for this 2018’s edition of Ziguzajg was planned out to spread across as many mediums as possible. Featuring in news bulletins on TV and Radio, interviews with the festival team and various performers, print articles; about the festival in general and the individual performances, and articles on the most popular local news portals and websites. Some foreign websites also featured articles about the festival, as this festival is targeted towards children and young adults with a passion for theatre and performing arts from all around the world.
